Content Description
This collection consists of an extensive collection of ephemera (103 pieces) related to the early years of the Visual Studies
Workshop, over 150 original silver photographs, silkscreen prints, offset lithographic prints, xerographic prints, and photo
etching from students and faculty.
The ephemera includess flyers, catalogs, class and workshop schedules, and other materials.
Biographical / Historical
The Visual Studies Workshop is a non-profit organization in Rochester, New York focused on art education. It was founded in
1969 by Nathan Lyons. In 1971 Joan Lyons established the Visual Studies Workshop Press, one of the few institutional publishers
of artists' books in the United States. The VSW supports creators of images through education, publications, exhibitions,
residencies, and collections.

Open for research. Note that material must be requested at least 36 hours in advance of intended use. Audiovisual & born-digital
materials are not available in original format, and must be reformatted to a digital use copy.
