    Content Description

    Materials consist largely of photographs from Taylor's time in the military, including cabinet cards, snapshots, and portraits, many with notes on the verso. Subject matter includes the Philippines, the army, and Taylor's family. Also includes postcards and some printed matter and ephemera such as Taylor's official certificate of joining the military, his official honorable discharge, invitations from President Hoover for a reception at the White House, and some sketches by Taylor.

    Biographical / Historical

    William Wisner Taylor, Jr. was born on October 24, 1873 and died July 17, 1957. He served in the United States Army, first in the Philippines from 1898 until at least 1906, and later in France during World War I. He wed Ethel Naill Taylor and had two sons, William Nallie Taylor and Oliver Burtis Taylor. Taylor rose to the rank of Colonel during his time in the military.
