Administrative/Biographical History
Samuel Freed Jr., Los Angeles area violinist, active in émigré music community. Taught at
Los Angeles City College and active in studio, chamber, radio, and other Los Angeles
ensembles. Active 1930s to 1960s.
Collection consists of one notebook of clippings, photographs, correspondence, etc. of
violinist Samuel Freed Jr. Also includes four music scores by Julius Toldi dedicated to
Freed: String quartet (1950), String quartet (1951), Yankee Doodle variations, Four tone
sketches to Whitman's poem music (1944).
