    Biographical / Historical

    Elias Cade (1841-1885) was a Union private and captain in the 29th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry in the American Civil War.

    Scope and Contents

    Elias Cade's diaries detail his time serving with the Army of the Potomac, the Army of the Tennessee, and the Military Division of the Mississippi, and his experiences in the battles of Antietam and Gettysburg, the siege of Atlanta, Sherman's March, and the Campaign of the Carolinas. The diaries cover Cade's entire war experience from enlistment to mustering out. There are also some notes by descendants of the Cade family.
