Biography/History

André Previn is a pianist, composer, and conductor famed for his mastery of a variety of musical idioms, including classical, jazz, and film music. Born in Berlin in 1929, he fled Nazi Germany with his family in 1939 and emigrated to Los Angeles. In 1946, he began working as an arranger, composer, and conductor at MGM. At the same time, he pursued a recording career and made numerous appearances on the radio. He quickly garnered recognition in many quarters of the music business, and would go on to win four Academy Awards and several Grammys.
