Biography

David Weeks (1890-1986) was born in Aurora, Nebraska and educated at the University of Nebraska and Iowa State College. He received his doctoral degree from the University of California, where he served as a faculty member in Agricultural Economics for most of his career. Weeks focused his research on land and water development and held research appointments with the California Agricultural Experiment Station and the Giannini Foundation of Agricultural Economics. In addition to his academic work, Weeks served in the following consulting positions: consultant to the California Department of Water Resources during the 1950s; advisor to the President of Bolivia; member of the President's Water Resources Policy Commission in 1950; consultant in the development of a master plan for El Dorado County in 1962; advisor in the Hydraulics Works Department of the Turkish government in 1964-1965; and water policy consultant for the sheikdom of Kuwait in 1965 and the Corporacion Venezolao de Guyana in Venezuela in 1966-1967.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of biographical materials, a file documenting Weeks' professional experience, one file of professional correspondence, a professional chronological file (consisting of materials on various projects and writings, mostly on land and water policy); and a small number of other papers.
