Abstract: Unpublished short stories, essays, and a photocopy of a printed manuscript,
Letters to Laurence, circa 1993-2004, by R. A. Horne. He published his works of fiction using the pseudonym, Blaise Bulot and his nonfiction
works as R.A. Horne.
R.A. Horne was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on March 10, 1929. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, and continued at the University of Vermont earning a Master's of Science in Chemistry. He went on
to receive a Master's of Arts in Philosophy from Boston University, his doctorate in Chemistry from Columbia University, and
then a law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He also pursued his interest in art, attending School of the Museum
of Fine Arts, Boston, San Francisco Art Institute, and a school operated by the University of Arizona in Florence, Italy.
Horne published under the pseudonym, Blaise Bulot. He self-published two novels
Dark Waters, 1993 and
Starr-lyte, 1996. Of the approximately 100 short stories he has written, a dozen have been published in anthologies. Bulot has also
written poetry and reviews of gay nonfiction. As of 2005 he split his time between residences in the Boston South End and
New Hampshire.

The collection consists of two homoerotic short stories, seven essays, and the printed manuscript
Letters to Laurence. The manuscript takes the form of a series of letters exploring the Gospels and "Jesus' ministry of love" between a correspondent
and John III. The non-fiction essays are titled, "The Cause of Homophobia," "The Marginalization of Gay Literature," "Southern
Gay Literature," "Hate Crime Laws and the Erosion of the First Amendment," "Responding to the Religious Right," "The Future
of Gay Literature," and "The Boy Scout Decision and the Resurrection of the Right of Association."
The collection is open to researchers. There are no access restrictions.
