Abstract: Dorothy “Dotty” Ann Fowler (1927-2013) was raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1966, came out and lived openly as a lesbian and devoted herself to improving the lives of LGBT people, especially elders. She received many awards in recognition of her work with LGBT seniors. She had an avid love of boats and sailed into her 70s. Fowler received her MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State in 2005. The bulk of the collection consists of her poetry.
