Biography/Administrative History
Louis Graydon “Lou” Sullivan (1951-1991) was a transgender activist, diarist, and author who often corresponded with other
trans men.
Scope and Content of Collection
This small collection comprises eight letters and one photo sent from Sullivan to a trans man named David. David’s replies
are not included among the correspondence in Sullivan’s collection, and nothing is known of him except that he lived in Nevada
and initially met Sullivan through his application to Golden Gate Girls/Guys, of which Sullivan was the treasurer at the time.
In the letters, Sullivan offers advice, shares news, and discusses his activism.
