Background
Edward DeWitt Taylor (1871-1962) was born in Sacramento, California, became interested in printing as a young boy, and in
1896 established E.D. Taylor & Company, which subsequently became the printing firm of Taylor & Taylor of San Francisco. He
also manufactured Taylor oil colors, designed many works exhibited by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and participated
in organizations dedicated to etching and the graphic arts. He was active in the printing firm until 1946.
