Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007) was an American writer and producer. He wrote film, television, novels, and for Broadway. Sheldon won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1984 for the film "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer" (1947) and a Tony Award in 1959 for his Broadway musical "Redhead" (1959). He created, produced, and wrote the NBC television series "I Dream of Jeannie." Sheldon wrote 18 novels.
