    Biography

    There is no biographical information available about Joy Jones. From her collection it appears that she attended Santa Monica City College in December 1963.

    Scope and Content

    Collection consists of materials related to the research done by Joy Jones for an academic paper regarding the life and work of actor Charlie Chaplin. The collection includes assorted writings by Jones, film materials, photographs, magazine and newspaper clippings, and sound recordings. The writings by Jones includes three academic papers written by her while attending Santa Monica City College, along with a working and final bibliography (1963 - 1964). The film materials includes 6 reels of 8 mm films titled "Charlie Chaplin Old-time Comedies." They include Charlie Caught in a Cabaret, Charlie in Dough and Dynamite, Charlie in His Trysting Places, and Hits of the Past. The photographs includes film stills from 10 Chaplin films including City Lights, Gold Rush, the Great Dictator and Limelight among others. Additionally there are two portrait shots of Chaplin. The printed materials includes clippings from magazines, newspapers and published monographs about Chaplin. The magazine clippings are from various sources while the newspaper clippings are mainly from the Los Angeles Times. The sound recordings includes audio reels and cassettes that appear to have been recorded by Jones. They include soundtracks from various Chaplin films as well as his appearance from the 1972 Academy Awards ceremony.
