Biographical Note

Jiang Lin 江林 was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China in 1953. Jiang joined the People's Liberation Army at the age of 14. Between 1971 and 1982, Jiang served as a military officer at the Fourth Military Medical University (now the Air Force Medical University) in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. In 1982, Jiang was relocated to Beijing, where she worked at the Political Department of the People's Liberation Army General Logistics Department. Between 1986 and 1989, Jiang became a journalist for the People's Liberation Army Daily. In June 1989, at the height of the student protest movement at Tiananmen Square, Jiang was present for firsthand reporting and was wounded during the turmoil. Jiang subsequently retired from the PRC military and engaged in editorial activities for several journals and magazines in Hong Kong.

Scope and Content of Collection

The collection consists of digitized color and black-and-white photographs (.jpg files) and writings (.docx and .pdf files) documenting Jiang's career in the People's Liberation Army, the armed military force of the People's Republic of China. Includes recollections about the Tiananmen Square incident of 1989.
