    Administrative History

    The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) was founded in 1979 at the University of California, Santa Cruz by scientist and business professional Narinder Kapany, and UCSC Professor of Physics Bruce Rosenblum. Designed to develop entrepreneurial skills in students interested in careers in business and technology, the center offered several courses, seminars, workshops, and conferences in business, finance, technology, and science-related topics. It was directed by Kapany until it ceased operation in approximately 1985.
