Description
Marcel Cachin was a French politician and one of the founding members of the French Communist Party (SFIC) in 1920. The Marcel Cachin papers (1911-1949) contain photocopies of diaries, interviews, and other writings.
Background
Marcel Cachin was born 20 September 1869. He was a French politician and one of the founding members of the French Communist Party (Section française de l'Internationale communiste), in 1920. Before this, he was a union promoter and he travelled to Russia in 1917 during World War I. He then served in the National Assembly until his death on 12 February 1958.
