    Donated to History San Jose in 2013 by Thomas Flood, a member of the Maxwell family.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Planning documents and business records (1935-1941) of the Garden City Velodrome (aka Burbank Velodrome), operated by Dewey L. Maxwell. Includes assorted programs for 1936-1939, as well as several programs from the Six-Day Bicycle Race (Los Angeles and San Francisco - Dewey Maxwell provided bicycle repair). The papers also contain material from the Maxwell Cyclery, operated by the Maxwell family, including bicycle parts catalogs and service manuals, business ledgers, and a folder of civil defense material from the 1950s. Approximately 146 photographs document cycling in San Jose, especially at its velodromes, as well as the Maxwell family and its cycling shop.
