Vincent Sherman was an American director active in film from 1939 through the 1960s. He began his
career as a film actor in 1933 and worked briefly as a screenwriter. In the 1970s he directed for
television. His 1996 memoir, "Studio Affairs: My Life as a Film Director," documents his life and
career.
