Scope and content:

The collection contains records created by the Office of the City Auditor from 1852 to 1941, including auditor's journals, statements of funds, cash books, appropriations and contracts, warrants registers, records of demands, monthly reports, correspondence and receipts, vouchers, and street improvement bonds. It is arranged alphabetically.

Biographical / historical:

The city auditor is appointed by the Sacramento City Council to independently assess and report on city operations and services, assist the council in budgetary decisions, and help ensure city government is transparent, accountable, and efficient.

Acquisition information:
Transferred from the City Clerk in 1976 and 1978 (accessions 1976/006 and 1978/031).
