Description
The collection contains records created by the Office of the City Auditor from 1852 to 1941, including auditor's journals,
statements of funds, cash books, appropriations and contracts, warrants registers, records of demands, monthly reports, correspondence
and receipts, vouchers, and street improvement bonds. It is arranged alphabetically.
Background
The city auditor is appointed by the Sacramento City Council to independently assess and report on city operations and services,
assist the council in budgetary decisions, and help ensure city government is transparent, accountable, and efficient.
