Provenance/Source of Acquisition
The Collection of television press kits is a collection originally assembled by the UCLA Theatre Arts Library and comes from
a variety of unknown sources.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of American television press kits dating from ca. 1974 to 2004, and documents a variety of television
series, movies made for television, specials, and mini-series. Each press kit may contain: show credits, biographical information
for performers or creators associated with the production, a brief story outline and/or background information surrounding
the production of the show (often referred to as production notes). The press kits document a variety of TV show genres which
aired on networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, HBO, PBS, SHOWTIME, and TNT.
Although the bulk of the collection represents the 1980s and 1990s, a number of the press kits are not dated; none of the
items seem to represent programming from the 1960s. Most of the photographic material, originally included with the press
kits, was removed and in some cases the stills may be in the Collection of Television Stills.
