Description
The Gilbert Roland papers span the years 1908-1979 (bulk 1947-1977) and encompass 16.8 linear feet. The collection contains film and television scripts; clippings; scrapbooks; unpublished writings by Roland, in the form of screenplays, short stories, and a substantial memoir; correspondence, including letters from Greta Garbo and Clara Bow; and photographs. The photograph series consists of 575 items, including prints, snapshots, proof sheets, negatives, postcards, 35mm color slides, and View Master discs. There are scene, off-camera, and portrait photographs, as well as pictures of sports-related activities, Roland's Army Service, and his appearances on television.
