Biography/Administrative History

San Francisco FrontRunners is an LGBTQ+ running and walking club. The organization traces its roots to Lavender U founded in 1973. The first run took place in 1974 in Golden Gate Park. It has since evolved into a worldwide confederation of social and athletic clubs. Member Bob Callori has written an extensive history of the organization that is available online at www.sffr.org/history. A narrative timeline and digitized primary sources are included on the site.

Material related to San Francisco FrontRunners, an LGBTQ+ running and walking club. The collection includes ephemera, banners, artifacts, such as T-shirts, hats, drag costumes, shoes, and others items, photographs, publications, including FrontRunners Newsletter and Footprints newsletter, administrative and member records, and written histories of the organization.
