Description
This collection consists of an autograph book from the Hayward Indian School in Hayward, Wisconsin; drawings from the Hopi Indian Reservation in Keams Canyon, Arizona; and written exams from the Sherman Institute in Riverside, California. The Sherman Institute is now known as the Sherman Indian School.
Background
Minnie H. Lipton worked on the Hopi Indian Reservation, Keams Canyon, as a teacher at the Moqui Indian Training School, Arizona from 1899 to at least 1906, possibly later. She also worked with Ojibwa Indians in Hayward, Wisconsin, at the Hayward Indian School.
