Scope and Content of Collection

This collection contains research notes and notebooks on the inhabitants of various Spanish Missions and settlements in California. The notebooks were created between 1940 and 1960, and record the births, baptisms, confirmations, marriages, deaths, and burials circa 1766-1902. Missions included are: San Antonio, San Carlos (Carmel), San Diego, San Francisco, San Gabriel, San Juan Bautista, San Luis Obispo, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Soledad. Also included are records for the Villa de Branciforte settlement in Santa Cruz, Ca.
The notebooks are either typed or handwritten and are unsigned. The exception is a genealogy containing a signed note by Irene Soberanes.
