Biographical / Historical
Donald Bannard Goodall was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Los Angeles, California; BA University of Oregon (1935) and MA, University
of Chicago (1938); director of the Utah Art Center (1938-1942); joined UT Austin faculty(1942) and was chair of the Department
of Art (1945); served as acting dean of the museum school of the Toledo (Ohio) Art Museum (1947-48); joined the USC faculty
(1948), where he headed the Department of Fine Arts until 1959; he returned to UT Austin (1959) and headed the Department
of Art until 1973; he was named director of the university art collections and built the nations largest collection of Latin
American art; his other contributions included trustee of the Pasadena Art Museum and vice president of the LA County Museum
Association; he died in Glendale, California on October 27, 1997.

Collection consists primarily of research materials related to Donald Goodalls dissertation about sculptor Gaston Lachaise.
Research materials include correspondence, photographic material, and manuscript drafts.
