Description
The collection consists of one Album
which contains 232 photographs, including negatives, prints, and proof sheets. These images
capture various people and events, including a number of family photographs, Goodwin
Knight's gubernatorial campaign in 1952, the unsuccessful campaign of Edward Roybal for
Lieutenant Governor of California in 1954, and the Dura Steel Strike in 1954.
Background
Tomás Rodriguez was born and raised in Peterville, Arizona. Once in the Los Angeles area he
studied photography at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Rodriguez married first wife,
Irene Godoy, in 1939. They had three children together, and divorced in 1950. He then
married Aurora, who had three children from a previous marriage, and they had three more
children together. Tomás was 92 years old when he died on January 18, 2005.
