    Biography/Administrative History

    The New Mexico Railway & Coal Company was incorporated in 1897 as a holding company. The system included the Alamogordon & Sacramento Mountain, the Alamogordo Lumber Company, the El Paso & Northeastern, the El Paso & Rhode Island, and the Dawson Railway, it included railroads and industrial properties including timber land and coal fields. In 1905, its properties were transferred to Phelps Dodge and became part of the El Paso and Southwestern.

    Includes financial records which include accounts payable and receivable ledgers, cash balances, cash books, voucher records and indexes. Also includes bond records. Arranged alphabetically by type of record.
