    Biographical / Historical

The Palos Verdes Peninsula News began publication in October 1937 as the Palos Verdes News and served a population of under 1,000. Founder and first publisher John J. Knezevich started the paper to replace the Peninsula's first community newspaper, the Palos Verdes Bulletin, which was published from 1929 to 1933. Knezevich's intention was to provide the community with a local newspaper and to help promote the sale of real estate on the Peninsula.
Knezevich was instrumental in each part of the paper. He covered stories, wrote editorials, sold advertising and distributed the paper. His column, Review of Events, covered topics of both local and national interest.
In 1948 Knezevich started the Rolling Hills Herald and the Hollywood Riviera Tribune. He sold the newspaper in 1958 due to declining health. Over time the News has changed ownership several times and has run under the titles, Palos Verdes Peninsula News, and Palos Verdes Peninsula News and Rolling Hills Herald. It is the longest running community newspaper serving the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
The annual supplements to the paper started in 1938. Each issue recounts the history of the community and developments over the previous year.
