Scope and Contents

This collection chiefly contains signed portrait prints of stage actors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries collected by American film producer Leonard Spigelgass (1908-1985). Items include 21 portraits (primarily photographs and prints), a 1905 call sheet for a theater company, and a framed "Amusements" page from the New York Herald (1908-11-01). Among the portraits are two originals: a pencil sketch of Robert Mantell (Box 1, Folder 10) and an ink sketch of an unidentified actor (Box 1, Folder 16).
