Her father ran a fuel and feed business that he took over from his father, William Basler (1859-1926). Jerome’s father, a native of San Francisco, opened Fletcher Pharmacy in 1916 at 2728 J Street. Jerome graduated with a pharmacy degree in 1935 and worked at the family pharmacy until retiring and closing up shop in 1983. He also worked as an adjunct professor of pharmacy at University of the Pacific. Jerome died October 7, 2006, and Helen died October 13, 2007.
