Abstract: The collection contains business records from Fletcher Pharmacy, personal photographs and photograph albums from the Fletcher
and Basler families, and material that documents the Sacramento Saturday Club, Sacramento's oldest musical organization. Material
dates from circa 1870 to 1985, with the bulk from 1870 to 1920. Photographs include prints, nitrate negatives, tintypes, and
cartes de visite that show family members, the Basler Ranch, Fletcher Pharmacy, and the 1938 Sacramento windstorm. Family
records include Sacramento High School reunion programs and information, cards, and ephemera. Pharmacy records include prescription
stub books, legal documents, Fletcher-branded items, material that documents the post office inside the pharmacy, and artifacts.
Saturday Club material dates from 1902-1913 and includes scrapbooks, membership rosters, programs, annual meetings, and the
organization's constitution and by-laws.

Biography / Administrative History
Jerome Royal and Helen Basler Fletcher were married in July 1937. Helen was a third-generation Sacramentan, born September
29, 1913, to Martin (1887-1946) and Daisy Coy Basler (1893-1978). Her father ran a fuel and feed business that he took over
from his father, William Basler (1859-1926). William’s parents, Martin (1825-1881) and Anna Basler (1827-1894), came overland
to Sacramento in 1852.
Jerome Fletcher was born August 6, 1912, in Sacramento to Paul Hule (1875-1938) and Frances E. Casper Fletcher (died 1970,
age 91). Jerome’s father, a native of San Francisco, opened Fletcher Pharmacy in 1916 at 2728 J Street. Jerome graduated with
a pharmacy degree in 1935 and worked at the family pharmacy until retiring and closing up shop in 1983. He also worked as
an adjunct professor of pharmacy at University of the Pacific. Jerome died October 7, 2006, and Helen died October 13, 2007.
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection contains business records from Fletcher Pharmacy, personal photographs and photograph albums from the Fletcher
and Basler families, and material that documents the Saturday Club, Sacramento's oldest musical organization. Material dates
from circa 1870 to 1985, with the bulk from 1870 to 1920. Photographs include prints, nitrate negatives, tintypes, and cartes
