Scope and content:

Records of the Office of the Chancellor that document special UC San Diego celebrations and ceremonies. Events include a number of Chancellors' inaugurations, campus anniversary celebrations, and dedication and groundbreaking ceremonies for campus buildings.

Arranged in seven series: 1) 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, 2) 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, 3) CHANCELLORS' INAUGURATIONS, 4) DEDICATION CEREMONIES, 5) GRAND OPENING EVENTS, 6) GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONIES, and 7) RECOGNITIONS AND AWARDS.

Biographical / historical:

The Chancellor is UC San Diego's chief administrative officer and has general authority across the university. He or she is responsible for establishing UC San Diego's administrative structure and insuring that it functions responsibly and efficiently.

The Chancellor has the specific, delegated authority to represent the University in public forums. As such, the Chancellor plays a significant public role in many of the special events and celebrations that take place at UC San Diego.
