Collection Scope and Contents
The Sadakichi Hartmann papers II is a composite collection that was created following surveys of unprocessed Hartmann family
related materials in 2018 and 2019. Provenence for the materials that make up this collection is generally unknown, but came
to UCR Special Collections over a number of years from a number of different donors, some of whom were Hartmann family members.
The materials in this collection primarily include items from or created by Sadakichi Hartmann and Wistaria Hartmann Linton,
his daughter. Materials include correspondence, art, manuscript drafts, photographs, newspaper clippings, print material,
as well as a small amount of ephemera, A/V, and realia. The art in the collection is primarily by Sadakichi or Lillian, with
some from other or unknown artists. The photographs include some photos that belonged to, or were taken by, Wistaria.

This series consists of photographs related to Sadakichi Hartmann and his family and photographs by other artists.
Series Arrangement
The photographs in this series are arranged topically. Many of the photographs have been numbered by previous archival staff
(at an unknown date), but there are multiple concurrent numbering schemes at work. One chunk of numbered photographs was found
to be mostly in numerical order and these were titled "numbered photographs." The other photos were generally grouped by topic
and were left this way at the time of processing in 2023-2024.
