This is the second of 4 diaries written by Robert B. Bartlett covering in total the period from March 16, 1850 to Nov 11,
1856. This diary begins March 16, and ends on Sept 15, 1851. Bartlett is 19 years old and the diary records his daily activities,
some items of current news and the weather. On July 17, Bartlett records that his brother George Bartlett had traveled from
Boston to San Francisco arriving by schooner around the Horn on January 1, 1850.
Mr. Bartlett here again discusses the weather, his family, logging, and his daily life in Kingston, Massachusetts. At the
beginning of 1852, he moves to Providence, Rhode Island. There are also some poems from several newspapers included in his
diary. He also highlights the "revolution in Cuba" and states that "yesterday the papers labeled it a hoax..today they labeled
it something quite different". Mr. Bartlett is 19 years old and records that his brother George Bartlett has traveled from
Boston to San Francisco arriving by schooner around the Horn on January 1, 1850.
