Abstract: Philip Turner (1951-2001), was a prominent figure in San Francisco’s leather community. He owned Daddy's bar in the Castro,
was a longtime fundraiser for AIDS and other charities, and served on the boards of many organizations. The bulk of the collection
consists of 30 volumes of “The Adventures of Philip and Greg,” scrapbooks that document Turner’s life and world travels with
his partner of 12 years, Greg Pennington.

Biography/Administrative History
Philip Turner (1951-2001), was a prominent figure in San Francisco’s leather community. He owned Daddy's bar in the Castro,
was a longtime fundraiser for AIDS and other charities, and served on the boards of many organizations, including the AIDS
Emergency Fund, the GLBT Historical Society, and the Inter Club Fund. Turner held the titles of Leather Prince to the Ruby
Empress and San Francisco Leather Daddy XI. He also created and or produced many popular events, including the Leather Extravaganza
event and the first Mr. Hairy Chest contest.
Scope and Content of Collection
The bulk of the collection consists of 30 volumes of “The Adventures of Philip and Greg,” scrapbooks that document Turner’s
life and world travels with his partner of 12 years, Greg Pennington. The scrapbooks contain photographs, cards, materials
related to leather events and charity work, and ephemera. The collection also includes awards and plaques, ephemera documenting
the leather scene, photographs, artifacts, a Daddy’s leather vest, and materials relating to Turner’s memorial. GSSO Linked
