Oversized: This series has a number of oversized items and folders. Two printed items are located in box 7 and several large folders in flat file drawers.

Scope and Contents

The Irvine Ranch sub-series contains materials related to the Irvine Ranch, Irvine Company, and Orange County. The bulk of the material pertains to the history of the Irvine Company with some material related to the planning and founding of UC Irvine.

Sub-series 2.3. James Theodore Talbot 1972

Scope and Contents

This series is a collection of facsimiles of the correspondence of James Theodore Talbot. Talbot joined the US Army and was a member of the John Fremont expedition to the American West. His journies took him throughout Mexico and the American Frontier from Vera Cruz to Oregon. Hine edited a book on Talbot's correspondence.
