Background
This collection contains records from the National Gay Rights Association (NGRA), a membership-supported, nonprofit, public-interest law firm. Founded in 1978, NGRA promoted the rights of LGBT people and fought to end discrimination based on sexual orientation through legal action and by educating attorneys. NGRA had offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. It closed its doors in May 1991.
