Gay Swenson Barfield (January 21, 1936-), Ph.D., Lic. MFT, is a licensed therapist who worked closely with Carl Rogers at the Center for the Studies of the Person (CSP) and as Co-Director of the Carl Rogers Institute for Peace.
While at CSP Barfield served on the Board of Directors, acted as a program facilitator, founded the Women's Center in 1973, and, along with CSP colleague Nel Kandel, created the Living Now Institute program in 1976. Living Now Institutes were structured programs that hosted keynote speakers during large group community meetings to speak on a chosen theme. The final Insitute was held in 1998 in Hilo, Hawaii.
