Description
Contains scrapbooks, letters, articles, photographs and awards given to Jimmie Yee throughout his career in the Sacramento City Council. It includes 10 series: Speeches, Correspondence, Flyers / Mailers, Newspaper Clippings, Scrapbooks, Photographs, Publications, Blueprints, Media, & Awards / Plaques/ Certificates.
Background
Jimmie R. Yee (1934- ) was born in Sacramento, California to Charles "Sam" Yee and Bau Jung Lee. After high school, he attended UC Berkeley and, in 1956, he received a BA in Civil Engineering. After college, he entered the Army Reserves. Approximately ten years later, he was discharged and Yee started his own engineering firm in Sacramento known as "Cole/Yee/Schubert and Associates". In 1974, he was appointed to the Sacramento Civil Service Board, and in 1988 he was appointed to the Sacramento City Planning Commission.
