Scope and Content

This series documents both Jiménez's career at Santa Clara University and his academic life outside of the classroom from the 1970s to the 2000s. The series features biographical information about Jiménez's history, including resumes, self-evaluations, publications, and documents from events and conferences that he led and attended, such as the Institute on Poverty and Conscience. Also included are various biographies written about his life, as well as letters to and from Jiménez during his time at Columbia University and early years at Santa Clara University. This section also highlights his years of service on a variety of academic boards and committees, including the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and Licensing, WASC, and the California Council for the Humanities.

Scope and Content

This series documents the publication of Jiménez's books, mainly during the 1990s and 2000s. It covers his early writing at Columbia University, his work with The Bilingual Review, his academic publications, and his autobiographical works. The majority of the series is comprised of articles, reviews and correspondence regarding his short story collections, The Circuit and Breaking Through, and also includes a manuscript of a play based on The Circuit. The series also contains a large quantity of interviews with Jiménez used in the promotion of his books.

Series VII. Audiovisual Materials, 756 1985-2002

Scope and Content

This series contains both VHS and cassette tapes about Jiménez's work. The majority of the VHS tapes are interviews, including an extended interview with Author's Desk. Some general events tapes are also included, such as one documenting protests at Santa Clara University, during which Jiménez interviewed students, as well as a recording of Luis Leal's commencement speech. The cassette tapes feature a variety of lectures and readings.
