Biography

Jack Atlas was an American film publicist. He worked at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the publicity department beginning in 1942 and in the trailer department from 1951 to 1959. He produced trailers for Columbia Pictures beginning in 1960 and became a vice president of promotion before leaving in 1973 to form the Jack Atlas Organization.

The Jack Atlas papers span the years 1942-1975 and encompass 5 linear feet. The collection contains approximately 500 trailer scripts for films released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Columbia Pictures. The scripts relate to theatrical trailers and television spots.
