    Scope and Contents

Published in Debrecen, the provisional capital of partly liberated Hungary, "Menekultek Ertesitoje" was dedicated to helping the surviving Hungarian Jews locate missing relatives. The journal was founded by three survivors of forced labor camps: writer and journalist Laszlo Gara, journalist Gabor Antal, and violist Pal Lukacs. This is the first issue of only two issues of the bulletin, and it contains a short editorial, list of names, and addresses and messages from individuals to family members. Among them is a message from Gabor Antal to his mother saying that he is alive and well and asking her to come to Debrecen. Only two issues of the Bulletin were published, most likely because of the publication of "Hol vagy?" (Where Are You?), a non-commercial gazette published by the Hungarian Red Cross with the same purpose, that was widely available throughout liberated Hungary.
