Biography/History
Tom Sturges is the former executive vice president and head of Creative for Universal Music Publishing Group, where he was
responsible for the continuing career development of musicians such as the Foo Fighters, Three Doors Down, 50 Cent, Jack Johnson,
and Vanessa Carlton. He is also a voting member of the National Association for the Recording Arts and Sciences, a member
of their Board of Directors, and the President of the Los Angeles chapter. As the Founder of the Manhattan Beach, California,
Unified School District's "Every Idea is a Good Idea" GATE Program, Sturges worked with more than five hundred students over
the course of eight years, creating a curriculum that allowed students to write and record their own songs. He continued to
mentor them all the way through adolescence, an experience which inspired the award-winning documentary on music and mentoring,
Witness The Dream. As the son of playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker Preston Sturges, Tom wrote the play
Preston Sturges's Last Night at the Algonquin to honor his father's memory. A graduate of UCLA, Tom is also the author of two books,
Parking Lot Rules & 75 Other Ideas for Raising Amazing Children and
Grow the Tree You Got & 99 Other Ideas for Raising Amazing Adolescents and Teenagers.
