Background
The City of Sacramento Police Court mostly handled lower-level criminal offenses that were punishable by smaller monetary
fines or shorter prison sentences in the county jail. The Police Court's duties were absorbed into the Sacramento Municipal
Court by a city charter amendment in 1941.
