Scope and Content of Collection

Album 151 includes photographs of SP steam locomotives and trains. Subjects include SP Cab Forwards, snowsheds, and trains on the Donner Pass. Locations include Norden, Los Angeles, and El Portal. There are photographs of Trona Railway locomotives, with one displaying the logo "The Three Elephant Route." Album 152 includes detailed photographs taken of trains and facilities in and around Colfax, California and of the towns of Colfax and Norden. Album 153 is about the Henry E. Huntington Private car, a railroad business car that was owned by various railroads and then sold to private parties. It consists of photographs and newspaper articles. The material in this album is primarily related to the ownership of the car by Philip Hirsh Goldman of Goleta, a friend of Mr. Levenson.
