The Multi-ethnic Gay and Lesbian Exchange was a coalition of gay and lesbian people of color organizations, which included representatives from Black and White Men Together, Asian/Pacific Lesbians and Gays, Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos, Lesbians of Color, and other organizations.

Administrative History

In 1983, the Multi-ethnic Gay and Lesbian Exchange (MEG/LE) was a coalition of gay and lesbian people of color organizations in Los Angeles, which included representatives from Black and White Men Together, Asian/Pacific Lesbians and Gays, Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos, Lesbians of Color, and other organizations. One of MEG/LE's activities was to advocate for affirmative action guidelines at the Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of meeting minutes, booklets, pamphlets, correspondence, flyers, a bibliography, and other material, 1982-1984, created or collected by the Multi-ethnic Gay and Lesbian Exchange (MEG/LE). The bulk of the collection is MEG/LE meeting minutes. The other materials in the collection appear to have been collected by MEG/LE members and include manifesto-type manuscripts and pamphlets related to the women's, gay, and third world liberation movements. Also included is a manuscript of a sermon given at De Colores, Metropolitan Community Church, by Elaine Hall.
