Abstract: liquidFIRE Productions was a performance company that sought, as a 2004 event webpage described it, “to inspire, create, develop, and produce – through multidisciplinary performances and film – original artistic expressions of lesbians of color.” Founded by Black queer singer songwriter and performance artist Veronica C. Combs (who also performs under the name Vixen Noir), liquidFIRE Productions was active in the San Francisco Bay Area from its founding in 1997 until 2005. 53 miniDVs; 11, 8mm video cassettes; 30 VHS cassettes; and several 3½-inch floppy disks document the creative work of liquidFIRE, including the annual auditions, rehearsals, and performances of the liquidFIRE project, a “5-month collaborative process in which a group of lesbians of color explore, reclaim and celebrate the power of the erotic.”
