Abstract: A small archive of letters, ephemera, speeches, newspaper articles and personal documents from Therese Walling Seabrook. Seabrook
was very active in the women's suffrage movement in the late 19th and early 20th century as well as the temperance movement,
being a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union of Keyport, New Jersey.

Biographical/Historical note
Therese Walling Seabrook (1821-1899), a resident of Keyport, New Jersey, was an active member of the Women's Christian Temperance
Union of New Jersey during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a champion of woman suffrage. She was also active with
the U.S. Sanitary Service during the American Civil War.
"In the early days, Mrs. Therese W. Seabrook stood almost alone in the W.C.T.U. in her advocacy of woman suffrage and it required
ten years of effort to secure a franchise department of which she was the first supervisor." -

A small archive of letters, ephemera, speeches, newspaper articles and personal documents from Therese Walling Seabrook. Seabrook
was very active in the women's suffrage movement in the late 19th and early 20th century as well as the temperance movement,
being a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union of Keyport, New Jersey.
A highlight of the collection is a letter from Susan B. Anthony (February 22, 1888) to Seabrook thanking her for a monetary
donation and comments on her visit to Washington D.C., note by Florence Howe Hall, co-signed by Emma Blackwell and a letter
by Clara Bewick Colby.
