Collection is open for research. All material may be photographed, with the exception of the red scrapbook in Box 7. Photography or reproduction of the material in the scrapbook is restricted until October 2049, though researchers may request permission for reproduction from Jones.

The collection was donated to the GLBT Historical Society by Jordy Jones in June, 2003 with accretions in September, 2019.

Biography/Administrative History

Jordy Jones is an artist, political activist, and community organizer who was active in the San Francisco Bay Area from the late 1980s through the early 2010s. Jones has a PhD in visual studies, and his art styles include film, photography, writing, and physical mediums. Jones was a notable figure in San Francisco’s transgender activism scene throughout his time in the area, and he was a member of the city’s Transgender Civil Rights Implementation Task Force from 2000-2002.

Scope and Content of Collection

This collection contains documents from activist groups, materials from art shows (advertisements, newspaper clippings, flyers, posters), periodicals, original artwork, photographs (prints, negatives, slides), audio/visual materials (VHS tapes, cassettes, CDs), and various ephemera collected by the creator (business cards, t-shirts, press badges).
