Biography/Administrative History
David Robertson is a Professor Emeritus at University of California at Davis. His areas of specialty include interdisciplinary
study of ecology and literature, bioregion studies, literature of wilderness, the Bible as literature, and photography. He
holds a B.A. from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, 1962; an M.A. from University of Toronto, Ancient
Near Eastern Language and Literature, 1964; a Ph.D. from Yale University, Biblical Studies, 1966 and a Ph.D. from University
of California, Irvine, English, 1972.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection contains David Robertson’s research notes for various articles he wrote about references to Mount Tamalpais
in art and literature. It contains bibliographies of related material, correspondence, two recorded interviews, research papers
written by Robinson’s students and photographs taken by Robertson of a circumambulation of Mount Tamalpais in 1990. The collection
also includes Robertson’s book of essays about people who walk in the wilderness, Real Matter.
