Description
The album of collotypes documents the
Barcelona Exposition of 1888. Included are birds-eye views of the exposition grounds; the
greenhouse; the Hemicycle; the Maritime section; exteriors of individual pavilions; and
interior displays including those in the Palace of Fine Arts, the Hall of Agriculture and
the Palace of Industry.
Background
The Cuban-born photographer, Pau Audouard, moved to Barcelona in 1879 where he opened the
photography studio Audouard y cía. In 1888 he was appointed official photographer of the
Exposición Universal de Barcelona.
