Scope and Contents
This collection contains the papers of director, producer, and actor Norman Tokar (1919-1979) including material on radio,
television, and motion pictures. Includes approximately 430 scripts for "The Aldrich Family" radio program (1939-1952); scripts,
photographs, cast lists, and production materials for the television show "Life with Luigi" (1952); casting books for miscellaneous
television programs such as "Leave It To Beaver" (1957) and "The Robert Cummings Show"; approximately 15 television scripts
for "Charlie Chan" (1958); production stills from various television shows and from many Walt Disney features including "Rascal"
(1969) and "The Ugly Dachshund" (1966); story board sketches for Disney projects; general radio literature and brochures;
and radio transcription discs.
Biographical / Historical
Norman Tokar (1919-1979) was an American director and actor. He directed over a dozen films for Walt Disney Productions from
the 1950s to the 1970s, including Big Red (1962), "Savage Sam" (1963), "Those Calloways" (1965), "Follow Me, Boys!" (1966),
The Ugly Dachshund (1966), "The Happiest Millionaire" (1967), "The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit" (1968), "The Boatniks"
(1970), "Snowball Express" (1972), "The Apple Dumpling Gang" (1975), "Candleshoe" (1977), and "The Cat from Outer Space" (1978).
